Required Training

The following is a list of requirements needed for the different team segments:

* TRAINEE
* IC Incident Command (CSAR)
* CERT (USAR)
* Wilderness SSAR (SSAR)

* ADMINISTRATION – LAW LEGAL – All forms read, completed and signed

  • SUPSAR Application
  • Liability Release
  • Health Release
  • Code of Ethics
  • Background Check
  • SOPs / MOUs

* COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM – F.E.M.A.

  • C.E.R.T. Training – Community Emergency Response Team – Level 1 (completion of 1-3 is Level 2)
  • 1 – CPR Certification – current – 2 years
  • 2 – First Aid / Wilderness First Aid (or greater) – Bloodborne pathogens – 2 years
  • 3 – AED – Automated External Defibrillators – 2 years

  • I.S. 288a The Role of Volunteer Organization in Emergency Management
  • I.S. 100 / 200/ 700 / 800 N.I.M.S.

* SEARCH & RESCUE – N.A.S.A.R.

  • NASAR – Introduction to Search & Rescue – SAR Tech 3 (completion of 1-3 is SAR Tech 2)
  • * 1 – Map & Compass – understanding and use – 12-hr course
  • * 2 – GPS Global Positioning System – understanding and use
  • 3 – Man-Tracking 1 certification (Man-Tracking 2 optional) – 16-hr course

FIELD TRAINING – SUPSAR STANDARDS

  • * * * SUPSAR Incident Command Procedures – FEMA – 2-hr course
  • * * * Personal FRS Radio / or HAM Radio technician (general & extra optional)
  • * * * Gun safety training / Arizona State Concealed Carry certification recommended
  • * * Ropes I certification (Ropes 2-3 optional) – NFPA – 20-hr course
  • * 20-mile training overnighter – annual – 20-hr course

* * * GEAR / SUPPLIES – SUPSAR STANDARDS

  • Team Dress Code: khaki or tan full-length pants / team shirt / outdoor hiking shoes
  • Pack / Gear – 24-hour rescue supplies – per current guidelines & position
  • Receive SUPSAR photo ID badges
  • Cell phone number / email address / team social account
  • $40 annual dues to be paid by badged members – trainees after 6 months of a trial membership
