History

Our first members were just regular outdoorsman that hiked and enjoyed our many trails.  When they heard volunteers were needed to search for missing and overdue hikers they formed a team and named it Apache Junction SAR and were utilized by law enforcement agencies all over the county.  In 1981 we filed for a Federal tax-exempt status under IRS section 501 (c) 3 nonprofit.  Through the years we have grown into a community emergency response team, changed our name, adopted many national standards and lead the way in several industry advances.  We’re affiliated with Apache Junction Police Department and operate under the direction of a 5-member elected board of directors.
